BlueSeek uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to scan for nearby devices. The closer you are to a device, the stronger the signal will be. By watching the signal strength change as you move around, you can locate your lost device.
Signal Strength Guide
Understanding Signal Strength
80-100%Very Close (within 1 meter)
60-80%Close (1-3 meters)
40-60%Nearby (3-5 meters)
20-40%Far (5-10 meters)
0-20%Very Far (10+ meters)
Note: Distance estimates are approximate. Walls, furniture, and other obstacles can affect signal strength.
Tips for Finding Devices
1
Start in the Right Area
Begin scanning in the general area where you last used or saw your device.
2
Move Slowly
Walk slowly and watch the signal percentage change. Sudden changes indicate you're getting closer.
3
Try Different Angles
Bluetooth signals can be blocked by objects. Try moving around furniture and checking different angles.
4
Check Hidden Spots
Look under cushions, in pockets, bags, and other places devices commonly get lost.
Frequently Asked Questions
Some Bluetooth devices don't broadcast their name in advertisements. This is common with older devices or devices in certain power-saving modes. You can still track these devices by their signal strength.
No. Devices must be powered on with Bluetooth enabled to be detected. If your device's battery has died, BlueSeek won't be able to find it.
Distance is estimated based on signal strength (RSSI). It's affected by walls, interference, and other obstacles, so use it as a general guide rather than an exact measurement. The percentage change as you move is more useful than the absolute distance.
The free version includes 3 scans per day. This is enough for occasional use. If you need unlimited scans, you can upgrade to BlueSeek Pro or watch a short ad to earn an extra scan.
